Dyslexia therapy, also known as academic language therapy, is individualized instruction that helps students strengthen reading, spelling, and writing skills using structured, research-based methods.
Students with dyslexia are intelligent learners who process language differently. Traditional classroom instruction is often not enough for them to fully develop foundational literacy skills. Dyslexia therapy provides explicit, step-by-step teaching tailored to each child’s specific needs.
The goal is not only to improve academic skills, but also to build confidence, reduce frustration, and help students become more independent learners.
Through one-on-one instruction, students receive targeted support in areas such as:
Reading fluency and comprehension
Spelling and written expression
Phonological awareness
Language processing skills
With the right support, students with dyslexia can make tremendous growth and develop the confidence to thrive both academically and personally.
Dyslexia assessments evaluate a students skills related to reading, spelling, writing, and language processing to help identify reading and language-based learning challenges. They also provide insight into how a student learns best.
These assessments help families better understand their child’s strengths and challenges and can guide recommendations for intervention, accommodations, and support. Early identification and targeted support can make a meaningful difference in a student’s academic progress and confidence.
Each assessment includes:
-parent/guardian meeting to discuss concerns
-full battery of assessments (CTOPP2, KBIT2, WRMT, GORT, TOWS, may include TOD)
-written report of findings
-parent/guardian meeting to review results
